What are Fruits?
A fruit is a mature, ripened ovary, along with the contents of the ovary. The ovary is the ovule-bearing reproductive structure in the plant flower. The ovary serves to enclose and protect the ovules, from the youngest stages of flower development until the ovules become fertilized and turn into seeds. Eventually, the fruit functions to spread the seeds or to attract dispersers. There are many different kinds of fruit–from dry to fleshy, from dehiscent (splitting open) to indehiscent and from single seed to many-seeded.
Under the botanical definition of fruit, many things that are commonly called vegetables are in fact fruits (for example, eggplant, green beans, okra, and, yes, tomatoes). Technically, fruits also include many things that we commonly call nuts (when enclosed by their shells—for example, walnut, sunflower seed, peanut, chestnut, acorn, and even coconut). But that does not include the Brazil nut, which is a seed.
Fruits also include some spices (allspice, vanilla bean, chili pepper, fennel seeds, black pepper, coriander), melons and squash (including cucumber, pumpkin, watermelon), most berries (blueberry, cranberry, gooseberry), and grains (corn, wheat, rice), which mostly consist of seed, but are also made of ovary tissue.

What are Tubers (Roots)?
Tubers are underground plant stems that swell to store nutrients for next season's growth. The mature tubers are dug from the ground and cleaned of soil to store or prepare as food. They are capable of producing complete new plants from a part of the tuber. One of the most familiar tuber vegetables is the potato, but many kinds of tuber vegetables are used all over the world for starch and carbohydrates. Besides potatoes, edible tubers include taro or malanga, artichokes, yams, ginger, jicama and cushcush.

How Much Fruits Do You Need Daily?
The amount of fruit you need to eat depends on your age, sex, height, weight, and level of physical activity. For women, the amount can also depend on whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding. For general recommendations by age, see below:
Toddlers - 12 to 23 months: ½ to 1 cup
Children - 2-4 yrs: 1 to 1½ cups
5-8 yrs: 1 to 2 cups
Girls
9-13 yrs: 1½ to 2 cups
14-18 yrs: 1½ to 2 cups
Boys
9-13 yrs: 1½ to 2 cups
14-18 yrs: 2 to 2½ cups

What do I do if my bag is missing a scoop?
Often, the scoop is buried in the powdered mixture during transit. Most customers find the scoop by using a fork to comb through the collagen powder. If you still cannot find it, please contact customer service for the equivalent scoop size.
