Let's bridge the gap between health and humanity
We believe in the power of the body's ability to heal the individual, and that medication and surgery should be a last resort. The products and services we provide are designed to give the body what it needs to thrive, heal and repair naturally. We do this by integrating natural health and objective, research-backed education to provide people with everything their bodies need to operate at maximum potential.
The most important step in achieving our mission is to deliver proper health and nutritional education to the public. Unfortunately, public school health education is decades behind, and medical schooling tends to avoid nutritional education in order to test the theories behind the efficacy of pharmaceuticals in isolation.
We choose our products carefully and research them thoroughly before releasing to the public. If you choose not to start your health journey with UMZU, we still encourage you to browse the educational pieces below. The more you understand about your body, the better you will be able to take control of your own health.
How to Make Bone Broth at Home
Making bone broth is very simple. All you need is a large pot, water, vinegar and bones!
Step 1: Find your bones
High quality bones are ones from humanely raised animals: grass-fed or pasture-raised beef, or pastured chicken and pork. But we're also talking about bones that will yield the most nutrient-dense, healthy broth. Here are some guidelines on what to buy:
For chicken bone broth
Supplement your frozen chicken bones from the previous steps with chicken feet (best source of gelatin) or chicken wings
Full chicken carcass, including the back, and neck
Substitute chicken for turkey and you'll have a tasty nourishing turkey bone broth
For beef bone broth
T-bone with marrow bones (femur bones)
Beef knuckle and cow feet (great source of cartilage)
Use roasted bones for a richer broth
Meaty bones like oxtail, shank, and short ribs add a lot of flavor to bone broth
For pork bone broth
Rib bones or neck bones
A cartilage rich pig’s foot can be added to any broth recipe without affecting the flavor
Step 2: Add your bones
Start with your bones. For a 2-gallon pot, we recommend using 3 to 4 pounds of bones. Place bones into your pot and fill it with filtered water, leaving at least 2 inches at the top. You might consider roasting your beef bones before this step if you're making beef broth, but it's not 100% necessary. It just makes for a richer, darker finished product.
Step 3: Don't forget to add this
A critical, yet often forgotten step is to include an acid of some sort to encourage your bones to release those nutrients we mentioned earlier (collagen and gelatin). Add a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice. It's important to let the bones sit in the water with the acid for at least 30 minutes before you turn on the heat to let the acid work its magic.
Step 4: Add your extras
When you're ready to start cooking, add your extras to the water. If you haven't started saving your extras yet, include carrots, tomatoes, onion, and garlic in your broth, all roughly chopped. Don't bother peeling anything, and be sure to include every part of the extras to ensure that you're maximizing the nutritive value of your broth. For a more complex flavor profile, you might also consider adding some chopped ginger or jalapeno (or both!) for some kick.
Step 5: Bring to a boil and set your timer
Turn your stove up to high until you've reached a rolling boil. At that point, lower your heat to a gentle simmer and partially cover the pot, leaving an opening for steam to escape. Set a kitchen timer for between six and 24 hours, depending on how much liquid you've started with and how much time you have. Your broth will reduce for the duration of the cook time, so you don't want to overdo it and end up with only a tiny amount of broth at the end. For both the stove top and slow cooker method, you'll want to check on your broth at the six hour mark to ensure that your broth isn't reducing too quickly. For the pressure cooker method, you'll set your cooker to two hours. In all cases, it's up to you if you'd like to add sea salt during the cooking process or as needed when you use the broth in cooking.
Step 6: Strain and Store
Strain out the liquid for freezer storage in glass jars or ice cube trays.

What is Bone Broth?
Bone broth is made from animal bones and connective tissue - typically cattle, chicken or fish - that have been boiled into a broth and slow simmered for 20+ hours with herbs, vegetables and spices. So why is this seemingly simple liquid something you'd want to drink every day?
The History of Bone Broth
Bone broth has a rich history of being used in traditional Chinese culture, for its many benefits: to support digestion, through collagen, minerals, amino acids, and compounds found in bones and connective tissue.
Specific compounds like chondroitin sulfate (used in osteoarthritis supplements) and hyaluronic acid(used in facial cosmetic products) are found in cartilage, connective tissue and bones.
Even our hunter-gatherer ancestors realized that drinking bone broth was highly valuable, as its earliest version dates back over 2,500 years. Throwing away anything edible was out of the question back then, so animal hooves, knuckles, bones, and other connective tissues never went to waste.
People with leaky gut syndrome have also used bone broth to support their diet.
Plus, the collagen found in bone broth makes it the perfect food to support healthy looking skin.
Do you get enough collagen from eating meat?
The vast majority of collagen in animals is contained in the skin/hide, bones and connective tissues of the animal.
In today's society, we typically only consume the muscle meats of animals, which are largely devoid of collagen.
This is why a collagen supplement (like bone broth) is the best option for collagen creation.
What is the difference between whey, collagen and plant protein supplements?
Your body needs the amino acids provided by both whey and collagen protein. If you choose to supplement with whey, you may be over-consuming some amino acids and ignoring others.
Here's where our protein supplement sources stray from one another:
Whey Protein: Whey protein is a complete protein, meaning it contains all 9 essential amino acids
Collagen Protein: Collagen protein lacks tryptophan, one of the essential amino acids. While it is therefore not a "complete protein", collagen contains a high concentration of several important non-essential amino acids.
Plant Protein: Plant-based protein often falls behind whey and collagen, lacking as much of both essential and non-essential amino acids.
Another key difference is the availability of these sources in foods.
Whey sources: The amount fo whey protein needed for an adequate amount of essential amino acids can be easily obtained through a diet containing meat, poultry, fish, eggs and dairy.
Collagen sources: Collagen, on the other hand, is harder to come by. While animals are often the source of collagen, collagen is found in the bones and skin of these animals. These pieces of the animal are often ignored - we eat the muscle meats, which are largely devoid of collagen.
This is why, while whey is a complete protein, it is more worth your while to supplement with collagen.
zuBROTH grass-fed bone broth was formulated by Christopher Walker with beef sourced from the world's healthiest cows and flavored with delicious savory herbs, turmeric, tomatoes, and sea salt. Mix it in hot water for a warm savory bone broth drink or sprinkle onto your favorite meals as an everyday spice jam-packed with flavor.
Hydrolyzed Bovine Collagen
zuBROTH is grass-fed bone broth including 10g per serving of bovine collagen protein. Collagen is incredible for helping your joints, hair, skin, nails, and recovery. Research shows that taking collagen can improve skin health by reducing dryness and wrinkles. Taking collagen may stimulate the body to produce collagen. Supplementation may also stimulate the body to produce elastin, which gives skin its ability to retain its shape even when stretched. Collagen is also responsible for giving muscles structure. Up to 10 percent of muscle tissue is made from collagen.
Garlic Powder & Oregano
zuBROTH tastes delicious! This grass-fed bone broth is flavored with a natural savory herb mix of garlic, tomatoes, turmeric and herbs like oregano. Use it in hot water for a quick bone broth soup or use it to spice up your favorite dishes while adding some extra high quality protein to your meals.
Tomato Fruit Powder
The tomato powder in zuBROTH doesn't just make it taste great, but it's also full of natural antioxidants and compounds such as lycopene, an important antioxidant nutrient that helps reduce free radical damage in the body and has many health benefits ranging from improving eyesight, reducing pain, protecting your brain, and even stronger bones.
Turmeric is an age-old spice derived from a flower related to the ginger plant. It's a mainstay in India and other Southeast Asian countries. Aside from food flavoring, turmeric also has medicinal applications. It's a main component in various Ayurvedic medicines. This spice is known to relieve blood clots, improve skin complexion, fight inflammation and even reduce depression. Curcumin is the main active compound in turmeric. The research behind it suggests it’s one of the best forms of natural anti-inflammatories out there.

I had heard just recently about collagen protein, and then about the benefits of bone broth. Was interested in both and found this product that contains the two. I mix it with hot water and have it as my evening snack to stave off the munchies. I also use it when I need a bit more protein. I love the calorie/protein ratio. I also have a problem with some protein powders bothering my stomach a bit, but this has worked like a charm. Been using it for a few months. Very happy with it!
zuBROTH has done for me what Wheaties did for Bruce Jenner! Figuratively speaking now...a total transformation in my eating habits, the nutrients in the zuBROTH are sufficient to keep me healthy and full of energy to work a full day as an Electrician.
