Hawthorn berries could have many potential benefits. Some of the most significant benefits of hawthorn berry include:

Hawthorn Berry Could Help Support Heart Health

The hawthorn berry has long been treasured for its antioxidant content, but recent research indicates that the berries could support heart health too. There have been several different studies that have shown that hawthorn berry has the potential to effectively support heart failure

These studies have also shown to help reduce hypertension in animals by helping to induce vasodilation (the expansion of the blood vessels).

Hawthorn Berry Could Help Support Sports Performance

The hawthorn berry has long been treasured for its antioxidant content, but recent research indicates that the berries could support sports performance too.

A recent study published in the  Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition  indicates that hawthorn berries may help support cardiovascular health and sports performance.

The study was conducted by researchers from the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, who gave 24 healthy participants aged between 18-25 either a placebo or a 600 mg extract from the dried fruit of the hawthorn plant.

The extract was standardized to provide a minimum of 2% vitexin and isoquercitin, two compounds that have been shown in previous studies to improve circulation and blood pressure.

Participants took the extract twice a day for three weeks before completing a maximal treadmill test to exhaustion, with blood samples taken at regular intervals before and after.

The results indicated that the hawthorn berry extract significantly increased exercise time to exhaustion by about 14% compared with placebo, while also maintaining healthy increases in nitric oxide production.

Hawthorn Berry Could Help Support Inflammation Challenges

Hawthorn berry is loaded with antioxidants that can help fight the oxidative stress inside of the body.

Studies have shown that the phenolic compounds in the skin have  potential for inflammatory conditions of the liver. On top of this there have been studies showing the potential benefits of the antioxidant components of this plant helping with respiratory inflammation (which also gives it the allergy relief benefits it is known for as well).
